Grab a pumpkin, pick up a paintbrush, and join the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County for a special Purple Pumpkin Project Creativity & Connection event at our new home in Liberty Station!
The Purple Pumpkin Project began with a simple idea: What if painting a pumpkin purple could get people talking about epilepsy?
Purple is the color of epilepsy awareness, and a purple pumpkin displayed during the fall season can help spark conversations, raise awareness, and remind our community that epilepsy affects millions of people and families. What started as one person painting a pumpkin purple has grown into a meaningful way for communities to show support for people living with epilepsy.
At our Purple Pumpkin Project, pumpkin painting will take center stage! Choose a pumpkin, get creative, and make it your own while helping us fill Liberty Station with a little more purple.
We’ll also have fun activities for kids, teens, adults, and families, along with lunch, drinks, and plenty of time to relax, create, and connect with others in the epilepsy community.
Whether epilepsy is part of your family’s story or you simply want to show your support, everyone is welcome.

There is a unique feeling of isolation for a parent who receives an epilepsy diagnosis for their child or teenager. In this vulnerable moment, what makes the difference between despair and hope is support and understanding.
This is why the Epilepsy Foundation of San Diego County provides free programs and services like the Purple Pumpkin Project to clients and their families who are in search of solace, community and guidance. This event aims to equip parents and caregivers with the knowledge and tools needed to help their children succeed in school while managing epilepsy.
