Who is George Thomas?

George is a man who responds to tragedy with a sense of challenge!  From a near-death experience after being hit by a drunk driver and crashing head-first through a windshield, to developing epilepsy as a result of the accident, George not only learned to walk again, but now he jumps on his bike and races across the country to compete for charity.  George Thomas is an extraordinary individual who continues to rise to life's challenges with determination and drive.

George will be competing in RACE ACROSS AMERICA, one of the world's toughest cycling competitions, and this time he races to make a difference.  Race Across America is a 2,992 mile, ten-day, ultra cycling competition starting in Portland, Oregon and ending in Pensacola, Florida.  Stay tuned to our site for updates on George’s progress across the USA as the world's best cyclists compete against each other and endure scorching desert heat, relentless rain, torrential winds, unnerving hallucinations, swollen feet (many shoe sizes), burned hands from desert-heated brake levers, the constant threat of crashing from sleep deprivation, and more!

Is George the guy you imagine racing across the desert, leading a pack of the world's premier cyclists?  You bet!  George has continued to triumph over all obstacles and his seizures are now under control.  That’s why George is dedicating his race to benefit people who live with epilepsy.  He is an inspiration to over 2.5 million people in the USA who suffer from seizure disorders.
